Today, March 4, Antonin Artaud died 63 years ago, in a mental hospital for malattrie, stuffed with chloral.
It is well worth the effort, indeed, the "cruelty" to say a few words about the great French playwright, creator of the "theater of cruelty" (manifesto written in 1932). And Artaud
deserves at least two reasons: first, for formulating theories of theater and speech, which summarize the concepts of ancient and modern, and open up new light on literature, poetry and theater, which now allows light to still have a 'good art, full of pathos, of real emotion (of cruelty, in fact), an art that comes close to "panta rei" the evolution of human life. But let's not forget the second reason why it is worth remembering this great artist, Antonin Artaud was arrested in 1937, he was put in a straitjacket and is confined in different hospitals, where fifty-one experience falls into a coma from shock.

In our opinion, each session of electroshock is an abuse of the human body as of mind, because even if there had been improvements, are not considered very harmful side effects of the technique.
But instead of speaking of the supporters of this technique, which I hope and believe they are endangered, I would open a debate on the techniques that today REPLACEMENT electroshock: psychotropic drugs. Antidepressants, anxiolytics, hypnotics, sleeping pills. Our idea is that even today that the medicine does not have complete control over the use and effects of these drugs, the approach is still empirical too, that we evaluate only the desired effects, and adverse events underestimating and the causes of disease must be cured. In this case, we are aware, there are cases for which these drugs have effects that benign and cure disease, but we are far less than the medicine believes (or pretends), and strongly denounced the abuse in large quantities (and quality) of drugs that doctors prescribe today as they were candy.
