Kipple: 5 years later

Within five years, all the eBook will cost 99 cents

[ taken from booksblog.it, published by Roberto Russo ]

About a year ago we asked you what do you think would cost an eBook. Most of the responses to our survey indicated that an ebook should cost 50% less than the paper, although it was stated in comments that could be much lower.

Since last year, water has passed under the bridge and the eBook market is growing (though the fact remains that if they talk a lot, a lot of respect to those who sell eBooks in reality). For the discussion of prices, is increasingly gaining awareness of the publishers that the price must be kept low: those who do not lower it on its way out from the logic of the market, because of the pricing policy implemented by the authors who self-publish directly, without passing by the publishers. But

lower them to what? According to Kevin Kelly to be in five years, digital books will cost 99 cents. Kelly himself says that this is not good news for the publishers nor the authors, but it is, without doubt, the readers.

Salon Welcome Letter For New Clients

Press

Dear friends,
is with great pleasure that we inform you the creation of HIGH - Association - transarchitectures Laboratory, a project born as an evolution of an idea of \u200b\u200bthe Italian Transhumanist consolidated, namely Laboratories Transhumanist. HIGH, while preserving its own freedom of action, maintain a close relationship with the ' AIT, since the goal high and to undertake a series of cultural projects aimed at reflecting on the relationship between architectural discipline (and its evolution) and the requirement that short can be defined as contemporary: the posthuman. The line of research may indeed HIGH summarized in the investigation of possible synergies between the technical and artistic developments in architecture and self-directed human evolution.
It is very important to note up front that you should understand the term "transarchitectures" as the contraction of Architecture and Transhumanism. but as something much more subtle: the root of "trans", which refers to some beyond the object in question, HIGH will study and reflect on the events of ' ; architecture that transcend the physicality of its products. No coincidence that the acronym refers to the name of HIGH and fantastic future city born from the pen of Francesco Verso, from his book Human Antidotes.
Specifically, the study will be the subject of architectural imagery, the relationship between architecture, film and literature, utopias of the most varied and colorful, the most heterogeneous changes that technology will allow for common buildings and emergencies ... In short, all that really matters: the ethereal, the superfluous! Provided it is beautifully futile ...
then declare born today, March 8, the project HIGH, the date which marks the February Revolution in Russia, according to the Orthodox calendar coinciding with February 23, the anniversary of the storming of the Paris Commune, and days when it was compiled and printed the articles of association. Dates are not random: it is only in the revolutions that we have that enrichment of symbolic goods capable of giving a radical evolution in the collective imagination!
We take this opportunity to also announce the election of five members to honorary , which have made us the joy of accepting and work with us:

Sveva Avveduto - CNR IRPPS director;
Sandro Battisti - writer ;
Riccardo Campa - philosopher;
Fabio Fornasari - architect;
Francis Verso - writer ;

As you can see, only one of them is an architect, and by the way even an architect pure . This is one of the peculiarities of HIGH: we will always be on the sidelines of the architecture. This, we believe, and we believe, is the only way to talk back, seriously , architecture!
